News: Fatal Pedestrian Accident Results in Traffic Blockage Near M-A
This morning hundreds of M-A students encountered a traffic detour on the way to school, due to a fatal accident and following investigation near the school.
According to Atherton Lt. Joe Wade, the police received a call at 5:46 am of a body found on Glenwood Rd. near Middlefield. After officers arrived at the scene, it was determined that the victim had been fatally hit by a vehicle, and was deceased.
The victim has been identified as 60 year old Redwood City resident Jeffry Alan Zeman.
The department is currently assuming the accident was a hit-and-run, however further investigation is still pending.
Wade says they believe the man may have been hit on Middlefield, despite that the body was found on Glenwood. Thus, Middlefield is closed from Oak Grove to Encinal, while the investigation takes place. They expect the road to remain closed until at least 11:30 am today, although the estimated time of opening is dependent on the investigation.
