Robberies on the Rise in Menlo Park
May 18, 2014
Menlo Park, which shares a border with Atherton, has always been known as a safe community where many families and children reside. As of recently, Menlo Park’s residents have started to lose trust in the community, as burglaries and robberies have become more common.
According to The Almanac, the Menlo Park Police Department (MPPD) has recorded various police calls regarding robberies and burglaries in Portola Valley, Woodside, and Menlo Park. Many of these robberies occurred in residential areas in individual homes.
The crime map to the left illustrates crimes involving thefts, robberies, and burglaries in the past month. In total, there have been 50 of these crimes in Menlo Park.
The MPPD has recently made several arrests in these robbery cases. In late April, three individuals, including a teenager, were arrested for strong armed robberies and other thefts.
Even so, the MPPD advises all residents to lock their doors to homes and cars and be careful, even in the safest of neighborhoods.
