Opinion: The Mid-Summer Checklist
In order for you students to have a successful and fulfilled summer, I have taken liberty in writing up a checklist. This will show you what you still need to do for the second half of your summer so it will not be wasted…
1. Burn your old school work that you won’t need in the future. Make a bonfire out of it and talk sh** about this year in school. Get it all out of your system.
2. Keep yourself busy. Get a job or internship. It’ll look good on your college apps! It might be too late already but there is no harm in trying. An alternative would be to volunteer or get involved in some organization. Stay out of boredom and do something!
3. Get the fudge out of Menlo Park (and its surrounding area). This area is the MOST boring. I don’t care if you go to San Francisco, Kentucky, the Bahamas, or Europe. Explore and enjoy somewhere different.
4. Party. This one is open to interpretation.
5. Kiss a boy. Or a girl. Whichever floats your boat. A little summer fling can’t hurt.
6. Do an out-of-the-ordinary activity. Try something you have never done before, whether it’s painting or skydiving.
7. Go out in nature for awhile- camping, hiking, walking- depends on how lazy you are.
8. In contrast to #7, devote an entire day to watching TV shows or movies. Why not?
9. Swim. A lot. There are plenty of pools, rivers, lakes, oceans, seas, and fountains to go around.
10. Don’t forget about summer homework.
11. Incoming Seniors- applications. At least start thinking about them. Send an e-mail to Alice Kleeman or look on her Facebook group, she’ll tell you what to do.
12. Relax and get your tan on.
13. Stay up late. Maybe watch the sunrise. Then sleep till 1 or 2 p.m.
14. Be a little stupid because we don’t have school.
If you have not completed everything on this list, your summer is failing. There is still time, so get on it!
