Alabama vs. Notre Dame: Who Will Win?

The 2012-2013 BCS National Championship will consist of the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.  To me, this game will be a long, low scoring, defensive battle, that ultimately will come down to the last few minutes of the game. Both teams are defensive-minded, and don’t give out free points.  At the end of the day, the game will go to the team that is able to wear down their opponent, then go for the big play.  Playing passively is not going to get the job done.  Both these teams need to play aggressively, and come out swinging from play one.

Personally, I’m picking Alabama to win by one touchdown within five minutes of the end of the game.  I still have an incredible amount of respect for Notre Dame, but when it comes down to it, Alabama is just the better, more well rounded team. Through the year, their defense has allowed less opposing yards than any other team in college football.  Notre Dame also doesn’t exactly have the most potent offense, although it is still solid.  That combination will, in my mind, prove too much to overcome by the Irish.  On top of that, Alabama has been in this place before. They are no stranger to the National Championship, having gone in three of the past four seasons.
Alabama also has a better coach.  This is still taking nothing away from Notre Dame’s coach, Brian Kelly. He has done tremendous things with the Notre Dame football program, and will continue to do well in his career.  But, ‘Bama’s Nick Saban is certainly one of the best, if not THE best, coaches in college football.  With performance, leadership, and experience on their side, Alabama will win the 2013 NCAA National Championship.
