In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, seven time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong plans to admit for the first time to using performance enhancing drugs. This morning, he also apologized to the Livestrong staff for his actions. However, he did not explicitly talk about PED’s at that time.

I really didn’t see the point of this at all.  Everyone knew he took PED’s, even though he had never formally admitted to it. Why do it now? When the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency made allegations against Armstrong in August, he announced he wouldn’t fight the charges. What is this doing for him, other than clearing his conscience?
