Top 10 Moments of Winter X-Games 2012

 1. Shaun White’s Perfect 100.00 Score: Men’s  Superpipe

Coming in as the best moment of X Games 2012 is Shaun White’s gold medal Superpipe run. In addition to this being the fifth year in a row Shaun has won gold in Superpipe, he surprises the fans with the first ever perfect score in Superpipe history.  Along with his double Mctwist 1260, Shaun pulls back to back double cork 1080s, a move never before done in the Superpipe. This run is the best in snowboard history, you may want to change your pants.

2. Heath Frisby Frontflip: Snowmobile Best Trick

This year Heath Frisby pulled the first ever front flip on a snowmobile. Directly following Justin Hoyer’s failed double back flip attempt, Frisby gives the fans what they want. Flipping the 450 pound machine forward earns him the gold in Snowmobile Best Trick.

3. Torstein Horgmo Perfect 50: Snowboard Big Air

Torstein Horgmo pulls a beautiful triple cork 1440 in the snowboard big air this year. This was the biggest, cleanest trick all winter, pulling a perfect score of 50. Sadly, the final standings rely on the sum of the athlete’s two best scores, placing Horgmo in second.

4. Mark McMorris Triple Cork: Snowboard Big Air

Mark McMorris also pulls a triple cork in the Snowboard Big Air. While this trick may not be as clean as Torstein’s, it still draws a near perfect score of 49. This, coupled with his previous score of 31 earns him the gold. McMorris also won gold in Snowboard Slopestyle, making him the first double gold athlete since Shaun White in 2009.

5.Tom Wallisch Breaks Slopstyle Score Record: Skiing Slopstyle

This year Tom Wallisch goes big. Not only does he win gold in the skiing slopestyle event, he also makes X-Games history. Tom Wallisch throws down a near flawless run, earning him a 96.00, the highest score in the skiing slopestyle event.

6. Colten Moore Near Death Crash: Snowmobile Freestyle

Colten Moore misses a seatgrab after going off a kicker at Snowmobile Freestyle, falling 120 feet into the snow. For a while Moore falls headfirst toward the snow, but flips onto his back at the last moment. Luckily the powder saves him and he walks away from the crash unharmed.

7. Bobby Brown’s 44: Ski Big Air

Bobby Brown pulls two scores of 44 in Ski Big Air this year, earning him an 88 overall. In this video, Brown shows us a clean switch double cork 1260, proving that he deserves the gold.

8. Nate Holland Reclaims the Throne: Snowboarder X

This year Nate Holland reclaims the gold in Snowboarder X. Last year Nate Holland gave up the title, ending his five year reign as champion. In this clip Holland gets lucky; as the lead racer falls and takes out another rider, Holland gains a straight path to the gold medal.

9. Kelly Clark’s Gold Medal Run: Women’s Superpipe

In this clip Kelly Clark shows us why she’s the best women’s snowboarder around. In her victory lap she asserts her dominance with a 1080 spin 14 feet above the lip of the superpipe. Clark has really been paving the way for the progression of women’s snowboarding.

10. Women’s Ski Crash: Skier X

During the elimination round of the Women’s Skier X a competitor falls, taking down four of the six others. Since only six women can make it to the finals, it became a race to see who could recover the fastest. This is definitely one of the worst crashes of the year.
