Girls’ Tennis Clinches League
The girls’ tennis team clinched the Peninsula Athletic League title with wins against Carlmont and Burlingame this week. With the wins, the team moved to a 12-2 overall record, 12-1 in league.
On Tuesday the girls travelled to Carlmont to face the Dons, the only league team to whom they had lost this season, and avenged their September loss with a closely contested 4-3 victory.
The team hosted Burlingame on Thursday with the league title on the line, knowing that Burlingame had just defeated a strong Carlmont team the day before. However, the team beat Burlingame in a strong 5-2 showing, thereby clinching the PAL title.
After the win, Coach Tom Sorenson said, “I couldn’t be prouder of the girls and the focus they showed all this week. Both teams are very strong and by beating them to clinch the title shows just how much of a team the girls have become over the course of the season.”
Looking to CCS, Sorenson says, “We will continue to be focused, continue to practice, continue to improve, so that we can be a real contendor in CCS.”
M-A faces Woodside on Tuesday at Woodside in their last match of the regular season.
