The M-A boys water polo team participated in the North v. South Challenge this past weekend. As this was a very highly regarded tournament throughout all of California, the Bears entered the weekend prepared to face tough opponents.

On Friday, the Bears faced Los Alametos High School in their first game of the tournament. The Bears barely lost with a 2-goal deficit; the final score was 8-10. Later that day, the Bears went up against Vista High School, and lost that game significantly ending with 8 goals to Vista’s 16.

To start off the 2nd day of the tournament, Saturday, the Bears pulled off a victory against local Los Altos High School, whom they had not yet faced thus far in the season. The Bears concluded the day, and tournament, with a game against Davis, a notoriously challenging opponent in water polo. The Bears failed to finish off on a high note, and lost to Davis 7-14.

Overall, the Bears finished in 12th place out of 16 teams in the tournament.

Seems like a fun tournament. I heard the announcers for the games were superb.
