Menlo-Atherton has co-hosted the NorCal tournament with Sacred Heart Prep for many years. The Bears started off the tournament with a tough loss, falling to Leland High school 13-3.  Junior Jessica Heilman put up two goals for the Bears, and junior Nicole Zanolli scored the third.  Despite the loss, junior goalkeeper Sierra Sheeper made 14 saves in front of the cage.

The Lady Bears ended the night on a high note, winning their second game against Gunn High School 7-3.  Senior Jenna Swartz lead the team offensively, scoring four goals.  She was supported by juniors Sofia Caryotakis, Samantha Henze, and Heilman, who contributed a goal each.  This was a significant victory for the Bears, as winning this game secured them 3rd place seed in the CCS playoffs.

On Saturday, the Bears were defeated by Davis High in their first game. Davis put up eight goals against the Bears early in the first half. However, as the Bears toughened up, the game remained a stalemate. Sheeper, commonly known as “the wall,” made an astounding 13 saves against Davis’ fierce offense, in addition to two steals. Heilman was also on her defensive game, contributing four steals.

The Bears’ last game against Monte Vista gave fans their moneys worth, as the game went into three overtimes and decisively ended in a sudden death round.  Although they ultimately lost to Monte Vista, the exciting game was not lacking in effort or energy.  Swartz once again lead the team in goals, earning three for the bears. Heilman come in at top stealer, tallying six steals, and Caryotakis trailed closely behind with three steals for herself.
