The girls’ tennis team, PAL champions, concluded their season with a close 11-7 loss to Leland in the first round of CCS. The format for CCS is different than the regular season, with each team trying to get 10 out of the possible 18 sets to win.

The team finished with 13-2 regular season record overall, 13-1 league. The team clinched the PAL title with a win over Carlmont.

Erin LaPorte and Sami Andrews were named to first team all-league and Sara Vitale, Jenna Scandalios, Valerie Giordano, and Lindy LaPlante were named to second team all-league.

In the PAL Individual Tournament singles player Valerie Giordano and the doubles team of Jenna Scandalios and Sara Vitale lost in the 3rd round and singles player Sami Andrews and the doubles team of Erin LaPorte and Lindy LaPlante lost in the semifinals.

Coach Tom Sorenson was pleased with his team’s performance throughout the season saying, “We were the beneficiary of so many pleasant surprises during the season that I’m hoping that we haven’t used up our allotment for the next several years.” When contemplating the Bears’ greatest strength he said, “In the end, we performed as a team that truly was greater than the sum of its parts.”
