Sports: The Lady Bears Make a Statement with a Victory over South San Francisco
In a match vs South San Francisco, the Lady Bears won with ease. Dominating with a 3-0 sweep, M-A blew out the visiting Warriors in all but the last game.
The first set started a tad shaky at for M-A. But after the first 10 points, the Bears settled in, went on a run, and did not look back. South San Francisco’s sloppy play opened the door for M-A to take control. They were not in sync all night, and made it easy for the Bears to pull ahead. The first game ended with a final score of 25-13.
The second set was more of the same for the Bears. Every single point was just flat out dominant. They defended well, and offensively passed, set, and spiked like a well-oiled machine. A strong showing by junior Ally Ostrow late in the game helped the Bears to victory in the second.
South San Francisco came back to make a late surge and a close third set. But ultimately, the Bears were too much for South San Francisco to handle, winning the third set by a score of 25-22. The whole match was lopsided, and M-A won 3-0.
A contributing factor to the Bears dominant performance was their ability to play as a team.
“We did a really good job of being consistent all the way through, we have had issues with that in the past,” said senior Virginia Lane. “But I thought everyone contributed and did their part and now we have to keep it going.”
The Bears aim to do just that on the road against Hillsdale on October 3rd. Looking strong through the first half of the season, the Lady Bears have become one of the most exciting teams for M-A. So come out and show your support for your M-A volleyball team as the season progresses!
