Sports: The Lady Bears Grab a Needed Win
The Bears, after losing two straight matches, grabbed a much needed win with their star, senior Pauli King, back on the court. The Bears came out and established pure dominance, winning all three sets, and keeping their opponent, San Mateo, from entering into the double digits until the last set.
In the first set, King’s return was key for the Bears. She had kill after kill and made it look easy. She stayed to the left side of the court and was an unstoppable presence there. M-A went on to win the set by a score of 25-9 with ease.
The second set was more of the same for the Bears. Essentially, the only points they gave up to San Mateo were unforced errors, such as missed serves.
The third set was different as San Mateo finally started to show signs of life. Their digs, sets, and kills were finally starting to work and the Bears were still making unforced errors. Eventually, though, the Bears took charge of the third set and went on to win the game.
Junior Kaitlin Tavarez remarked,” A huge positive from the game last night is that we played our game. That seems pretty simple but its something we have actually been struggling with lately. But last night was great because we were efficient (we avoided unforced errors) and didn't play down to their level.
Next, the Lady Bears will take on South San Francisco.
