Sports: M-A Swimming Captures Win over Aragon Dons

Thursday, the Bears traveled to Aragon to compete against the Dons in the pool. Both the girls’ and boys varsity and junior varsity teams defeated Aragon by at least 50 points each.

 

The varsity boys’ won 111 to 59, while the JV boys’ swept Aragon 117 to 69. The varsity girls’ earned 129 points, beating Aragon with only 39, and the JV girls’ defeated Aragon by over 100 points, 146 to 40.

 

Junior Gordon Williams had the swim of the day by qualifying for CSS in the 50 yard freestyle. Williams placed first in the event with an astonishing 22.95. Williams reflected on the season after the meet, saying “The M-A varsity boys came off with a rocky start [this season], but now coming to the end of the season, I can feel the excitement for league finals and the improvement has been phenomenal.” The Bears hope to continue this momentum throughout the rest of the season.

 

The team proved their dominance in the PAL league with only one league loss for the varsity boys for a league record of 4-1. The JV boys’ and girls’ along with the varsity girls remain undefeated in the PAL league (5-0) with only one dual meet remaining. This Thursday, May 2nd, the Bears will travel to Burlingame compete against their biggest competition.
