This is my first year of high school journalism. I have entered the class unsure exactly of what to expect. From Hemingway to Hunter S. Thompson, many great writers have had their origins in journalism. My main goal for this class is to hone my writing ability through practice and progression. Prior to this class, journalism has still managed to hold a level of importance in my life. I am an avid listener of NPR, and particularly enjoy their journalistic shows such as This American Life. In my opinion, the true Importance of journalism is the information it brings to others. This gives people more knowledge and perspective of the outside world, creating a more educated and capable public. While it most likely will not be my career, I know there is much for me to learn from this journalism class.
