Teacher Playlist: Sean Priest
We all know what kind of music we like, and what our friends like, but have you ever considered what some of the top favorite songs of your teachers or administrators are? Here’s a list of the favorite songs of Sean Priest, M-A’s Dean of Students.
“Tell ‘em” – Sleigh Bells (Good Morning, Sunshine.)
“Mientes”- El Guincho (Listen for Mexican pop singer Julieta Venagas’s bizarre backing vocals.)
“The Hook”- Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks (A song about pirates, with a great hook…get it?)
“Better Things”- Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings (See Sharon Jones live if you ever get the chance.)
“Long-Forgotten Fairytale” – Magnetic Fields (A gateway to the warped musical mind of Stephen Merritt)
“Missed the Boat”- Modest Mouse (Before they floated on, Modest Mouse missed the boat.)
“Ballad of El Goodo”- Big Star (The narrator in Big Star’s ubiquitous “13” turns 17.)
“Someone Great”-LCD Soundsystem (I think this song is about James Murphy’s dog Petunia.)
“The Infanta”-Decemberists (When steampunks go jogging, they listen to “The Infanta” on their steam-powered mp3 players.)
“1977”-Ana Tijoux Chilean (hip-hop with Afro-French infusion – a snarling android spawned from the Music Genome Project.)

This is awesome and hilarious.
