Friday night’s Spring Concert was filled with amazing talent, moving speeches, and loud waves of cheering. The event was a success as many students, parents, and faculty came out to support the aspiring musicians.
The concert is put on by the chorus and guitar classes at M-A, along with the help of teacher Patrick Maier and college adviser/pianist, Alice Kleeman.
Chorus I sang many selections including the Beatles classic Let It Be. They concluded their performance with an amazing rendition of Bruno Mars’ Grenade. This was truly a unique performance as it was student-organized.
Chorus II sang classics such as Lean On Me. This was the first year there were two choir classes.
Four students were given the opportunity to perform solos throughout the performance. Juniors Nicole Wong, Hannah Berggren, and Christina Takayama and senior Julia David, left the crowd speechless with their amazing voices and raw talent.
Two of M-A’s own bands also made an appearance. The Elves of Steel played exciting versions of classic rock songs, while Fourplay played songs including Toxic and Last Night.
Throughout the night, Maier made touching speeches about the musical development of his students through the duration of the year. At the end of the night, Maier called all of the seniors to the stage and gave a heartfelt speech to each of them.
The night concluded with a group sing-a-long in which all of the choir and guitar classes participated in. Be sure to be on the look out for the release of the choir/guitar class CD. The CD features the talent of students from these classes.
