M-A Drama’s Spring Musical, Legally Blonde: the Musical, premieres on Friday, March 15. Shows start at 7:30 pm on March 15, 16, 20, 21, and 22. There is also a 2:00 pm Matinee on the 16th. One can Buy tickets online or at the door for $12 general admission or $8 student/senior discount.

For those of you who have not seen the film off of which this musical is based, the story follows the development of Elle Woods – a wealthy college student who does very little aside from engage in the life of her sorority. Her comfortable life takes a swerve when her boyfriend dumps her because he wants to be more focused on his future after having been accepted into the Harvard University of Law. Determined to get him back, Elle uses her charm to get into Harvard Law. At Harvard, she struggles with peers and professors. As the story progresses, Elle quickly realizes her potential as a student of law and sets out to prove her worth.

M-A’s production stars Hanna Berggren as Elle Woods, Josh Weiner as Emmett Forest, and Thomas Johnson as Warner Huntington III. This show features a live performance by a collection of students enrolled in either the orchestra or the jazz bands, directed by band teacher Mr. Kent Kurrus. Technically, M-A’s production of Legally Blonde features complex scene changes with set pieces flying in and out onstage.
